What is Liposuction?
If you would like to have a consultation for surgical liposuction, confide in our board-certified general surgeon, Dr. Richard Eller, or our board-eligible physician, Dr. Michele Cavenee, at Vital Aesthetics. We offer this body contouring procedure to men and women who need assistance in getting rid of the stubborn spots of fat. Liposuction at Vital Aesthetics is not a tool for weight loss, but it can help patients achieve the desired look in a specific area when diet and exercise just don't produce ideal results.
We are proud to offer some of the most advanced liposuction methods to safely remove fat from the neck, arms, bra line, back, abdomen, hips, thighs, ankles, and buttocks to produce a leaner appearance on one or multiple body parts. During your initial visit, Dr. Eller or Dr. Cavenee will examine problematic areas to see if liposuction is the right solution to attain a healthy appearance. Book your consultation today in Dallas, TX.
Can I have liposuction?
If you are considering liposuction, we will assess your skin to see if it is healthy enough for fat reduction. If you have moderate to severe loose skin, liposuction may not give you the outcomes you think it will. Liposuction is not a skin tightening procedure — it only removes fat. If your skin is already loose, liposuction will make the appearance of your skin unappealing.
Female patients requesting liposuction should have childbearing complete before having liposuction as this may compromise the outcome. At the time of your initial consultation, Dr. Eller and Dr. Cavenee will set realistic expectations of what liposuction can and cannot do for your appearance.
Our liposuction technique
Surgical liposuction is completed in an outpatient setting using general or local anesthesia. A very small incision is placed through the skin so a cannula will be placed. A cannula is a special tool that makes it easier to loosen the fat as it is being suctioned out. Once the desired amount of fat is removed, we will close up the incision. Depending on the number of areas receiving liposuction, your procedure may take longer than an hour. In the dedicated recovery area, your post-op nurse will manage your pain and care for you until you are discharged.
After Your liposuction procedure
It's normal to have swelling and bruising for 1 – 2 weeks, and you can have the sutures removed on day seven to day ten. What is most important following any surgery is that you allow your body time to heal and recover. When you are ready to return to work, you should remember to go slow. To increase your strength and stamina, try walking and doing light workouts as approved by your doctor. Keep in mind, you may see some changes after six weeks, but it will take 6 – 10 months for your new body contour and shape to settle.
