Treatment Options for Hyperhidrosis (Excessive Sweating)

Sweating is a normal part of  life. We sweat when we exercise, when we’re nervous, or because we live in Texas and it can be hot year-round!  However, if you notice you sweat for no reason, it can be frustrating, embarrassing, and a big stressor in your life.  Thankfully, Vital Aesthetics has treatment options for excessive sweating, also known as hyperhidrosis.

Morpheus8 is being utilized more frequently in the treatment of hyperhidrosis due to its long-lasting results and lack of adverse reactions compared to other procedures.  Morpheus8 combines radiofrequency (RF) and microneedling to diminish overactive sweat glands.  The number of sessions needed varies from person to person, but the typical patient sees dramatic results after 2-3 sessions spaced 4 weeks apart.  The most common treatment areas are the underarms, palms and feet.

BOTOX is another method of treating hyperhidrosis.  After treatment with Botox, patients generally experience relief from excessive sweating  for at least 4 months and up to 1 year.  Typically, 100 units are needed to treat both underarms effectively.  Other treatment areas include the forehead, scalp, palms, groin and feet.  Preparation for your treatment may involve numbing the area with a local anesthetic, if needed.  Botox injection for hyperhidrosis involves shallower injections than those for wrinkle reduction, since the target is nerves and sweat follicles instead of  muscles. The treatment is quick, and results are seen in as early as 10 days.
